The St. Anthony Kiwanis Club began on February 20, 1962. Our club was sponsored by the Kiwanis Clubs of Northeast Minneapolis and Columbia Heights. To them we extend our profound thanks for bringing us into the Kiwanis fold.
The St. Anthony Kiwanis Club is known for generous contributions to many local organizations/projects such as Northeast Food Shelf, St. Anthony Seniors, Village Fest, school supplies for needy children, the St. Anthony Library, youth groups in area churches, and scholarships for seniors graduating from St. Anthony Village High School, to name a few. Supporting the community and our children has given our club a reason to work hard to help others.
Our club now sponsors four youth clubs. They are a K-Kids Club at Wilshire Park Elementary School, a Builder’s Club at the St. Anthony Middle School, a Key Club at the St. Anthony High School, and an Aktion Club for youth and adults with disabilities. We also support a Kiwanis worldwide project called Project Eliminate. This project is aimed at worldwide elimination of maternal and neonatal tetanus. The campaign, in partnership with UNICEF and supported by all Kiwanis Clubs around the globe, intends to raise $110 million dollars to immunize women and their future babies, primarily in developing countries.
