The St. Anthony Kiwanis Club began on February 20, 1962. Our club was sponsored by the Kiwanis Clubs of Northeast Minneapolis and Columbia Heights. To them we extend our profound thanks for bringing us into the Kiwanis fold.
The St. Anthony Kiwanis Club is known for generous contribution to many local organizations/projects such as food shelf, St. Anthony Seniors, Village Fest, school supplies for needy children, the St. Anthony Library, youth groups in area churches, scholarships for graduating seniors, to name a few. Supporting the community and our children has given our Club a reason to work just a little harder to help others when we didn’t think we could afford the time.
Our club now sponsors four youth clubs. They are a K-Kids Club at Wilshire Park Elementary School, a Builder’s Club at the St. Anthony Middle School, a Key Club at the St. Anthony High School, and an Acktion Club for youth and adults with disabilities. We also support a Kiwanis worldwide project called Project eliminate. This project is aimed at worldwide elimination of maternal and neonatal tetanus. The campaign, supported by all Kiwanis Clubs, intends to raise $110 million dollars over the next two years.
